Warm Italian Sausage Salad

1/2 lb. mild Italian sausage
1/2 tsp. fennel seed
2 large cloves garlic, minced
1/3 cup malt vinegar
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1 small bunch Swiss chard or spinach
1/2 small red bell pepper seeded and cut into rings
2 slivered green onions

Remove sausage from casings and crumble into small pieces in a 10 inch skillet.  Add fennel and garlic, cook until sausage is done. Stir in vinegar and basil.  Cook uncovered over medium-low heat 4 to 5 minutes.  Rinse chard and place on microwavable serving dish.  Wilt in microwave cooking on high 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.  Spoon sausage and pan juices over chard. Top with peppers and onions.
