1 cup buttermilk
2 cups sugar
1 t. baking soda


2 cups pecans
      t. vanilla
       T. butter


Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved, then place the pot on a low to medium burner & let the candy boil to a soft ball stage, stirring constantly. (The mixture will turn brown.) Remove pot from heat then add 2 cups pecans, teaspoon vanilla & a tablespoon butter. Beat the mixture briskly until it becomes glossy & starts to get very thick. Quickly spoon on greased wax paper, making little patties.
